The History of The ROSE TLC

What Began as a Heartfelt Response to a Need Has Become The ROSE TLC — a Sanctuary for the Unseen.

“When my husband passed, The ROSE helped me find community and purpose again.”

– Sarah, Widow

At The ROSE TLC, we believe no one should face life’s challenges alone.

Whether you’re walking through grief, hardship, or transition, we exist to be a place where hearts heal, needs are met, and community blossoms.

Our story began in Hickory, NC, when John and Ruth Featherstone felt a deep calling to live out James 1:27—to care for widows and orphans in their distress.

What began as an outreach of God’s love to orphans, widows, and churches in India—through over 20 years of faithful service and support of 37 churches—has grown to serve these same groups locally. It now also connects people in need with matched provisions, all while operating a nonprofit thrift store that helps fund the overall mission.

The ROSE TLC became a garden of care, rooted in God’s love and nourished by the generosity of our community.

Our name says it all: R.O.S.E T.L.C. = Reaching Out, Serving Everyone through Love and Communications

And that’s exactly what we do. Every item in our store helps fund vital programs that bring emotional support, practical aid, and connection to those in need.

From warm clothing and household essentials to friendship and hope—everything we offer is a reminder: You are not alone. You are deeply loved.

Behind every hanger, every donated item, and every cheerful volunteer is a story of hope in motion.

Together, we’ve built more than a thrift store—we’ve built a sanctuary for the soul.

At The ROSE TLC, we see you. You, the one searching for hope. You, the one ready to give back. You, the one who wants to make a difference.

Whether you walk through our doors to shop, to serve, or simply to belong—you’re part of something beautiful. Just like a rose flourishes with care and light, we believe people do too.

So come grow with us.

Our Impact

At The ROSE TLC, ministry is more than a message— it’s the lives changed through

practical love, connection, and care.

“Following Wesley’s passing, Donna began volunteering with John and Ruth, seeking a meaningful way to channel her energy.

What started as a personal endeavor to stay engaged soon evolved into a new family and purpose. The Rose family and

their mission of service to others provided her with a sense of belonging and fulfillment.”
